This is the resource page for IC Taekwondo.
Our program covers blocks, kicks, punches, forms and self-defense techniques aligned with traditional Olympic-style World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) methods. Participants build foundational skills while gaining confidence in the practice.
We divide our classes in two groups: Beginners Taekwondo, and Advanced Taekwondo.
Students engage in becoming grounded in the first and basic principles of Taekwondo. They learn the importance of respect for their parents and teachers along with the art. At this level we teach the first kicks, punches, and blocks associated with traditional Olympic Style World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), the first form (Poomse), and basic self-defense (one-step sparring) techniques as well.
They also begin to learn the tenets of taekwondo--COURTESY, INTEGRITY, PERSEVERANCE, SELF-CONTROL, and INDOMITABLE SPIRIT. Generally, our Beginners group is composed of those trying something new, white, and yellow belts.
Students in this group engage in faster pace and more advanced techniques aimed at pushing participants to continue to grow and develop physically while continuing to perfect techniques associated with traditional WTF Taekwondo. In this class we strictly enforce the tenets of taekwondo both in and outside the Dojang. For this we solicit feedback from teachers and parents to ensure that they are committed to excelling at all aspects of life and encourage them to not set limits for themselves. This class also introduces board breaking, more advanced forms (Poomsae), and korean terminology. Students from this class are eligible but not required to compete at tournaments.
